Self-Guided Tour Tips from Paul Cleary, Author and Historian

“Start at Darlau where B Platoon manned an observation post from early March 1942 right through until December.  It was from there they used to report on shipping and aircraft movements in Dili.

From there walk across the mountain and up to Remexio, stopping at the steam where the ambush took place in May.

From there go straight up and over the hill, following the route taken by the men in the ambush when they had to make a quick exit, but then keep going south for about 2‐3 hours until you come to the village of Liltai, on the next ridge south of Remexio. This route is the one taken by B Platoon when the Japanese launch an all‐out offensive in August.”
